We need to pick a date and time between July 17 and July 19 and a location. Guangdong and Macau Metafilterians: wanna combine forces?

off the top of my head some suggestions:
Club 71 - cheap, beer garden, friendly
The Pawn - never been there but seems to be suggested all the time
One of those Old Lady Chinese Singer joints in Temple Street - I've always wanted to try one of these places.
Aqua (although I think it has a $200 minimum charge so that's probably no good - great view though)
The Jockey in Happy Valley - just nice to go somewhere other than SoHo.
Castro in 1ST.

C'mon up Lush!

Let's tentatively go with the Pawn. It's near a station, has both indoor and outdoor, has good drinks and food. I think we can book one or two of the balcony tables ahead of time, so we just need a rough count of attendees.

I reckon around the first week of June I'll send a Memail to other HKers to gauge their interest. Then we'll adjust as necessary.

And just like that, we're a month away. Tentative info is: June 18th at 8pm at the Pawn, Johnston Road at Luard Road in Wanchai. However...

We definitely don't want to exclude anyone based on age, so there are two questions here: Michael Leung, how sure are you that you can make it? And if the answer is over 90%, can you maybe suggest some alternative venues?

I'll try to rally up a few more attendees over the next couple weeks. We'll plan to be settled and booked by July 1.

What are the licensing laws in Hong Kong anyway - can people under 18 enter the premises if they don't attempt to buy alcohol or is it forbidden?

If the Pawn is going to be a problem, then we'll need an alternative. That has beer. Which is kind of like a restaurant.
