We need to pick a date and time between July 17 and July 19 and a location in the Triangle.

At the meetup tonight we proposed that the Triangle meetup be in Durham in order to be more or less centrally located (and because Durham is awesome (and because most of the Chapel Hill/Carrborians will be out of town)). I offered to kick off this thread and at least start the organizational process. So, any suggestions for Durham locations, or alternative city suggestions (or anybody better at organizing things that I am who'd like to take over)?

I mentioned before that I really can't take on an organizational role, unfortch. But I am SO in. SO in!!! I'd be cool with either the 17th or the 18th, since the 19th is a school night.

So glad to see this thread started. I'm really looking forward to meeting my fellow Triangle MeFites. I'm willing to go just about anywhere, at just about any time. As long as I've got plenty of warning to block off my schedule and arrange child care. Yay!

Count me in, as well. I look forward to meeting other mefi'ers in the area. I mean, I've been to a goon meet before...it can't possibly be as bad as that. Also, it seems to me that there are strangely few people that have posted, considering the general "wiredness" of the Triangle and RTP. The longer I live here the more it strikes me that there is always something interesting going on, but no one knows about it.

I forgot to mention a few things. I am willing to help out with supplies or if someone really needs a ride, etc. Also, I would recommend doing this on a Friday night as opposed to Saturday. That way, if it turns into a horrible spectacular failure, we all still have an extra night to redeem our weekend.

So it turns out I can't be there if it's on Saturday. And of the people who've responded, it sounds like Friday is good? So I propose that we do it on Friday the 17th.

Also, I agree with the point that South Durham is more convenient for folks coming from Raleigh than Durham proper would be. I've heard good things about City Beverage. Anybody have a problem with them, or a suggestions of somewhere else in South Durham that they think would work. (Unless it's the Apple Store or REI I probably haven't been there.)

Okay, I'm going to declare the meetup scheduled for Friday July 17 at City Beverage in Durham. Anybody have any strong feelings about time? I'm thinking earlyish, since several people have small kids. Maybe 7?

Thanks for the offers of help. With the crowd size we have, it seems like minimal additional work is necessary. As long as people show up, and somebody brings a camera, and pens and paper for shoutouts, we're good.

Oh no. I'm sorry. I was the one who decided on Friday, because I have to go to a birthday party in Charlotte on Saturday and I got roped into organizing.

Y'all should totally have another meet-up on Saturday. Or just stay at City Beverage until they kick you out Sunday morning.

Also, does anybody have any specific request for the blue cake? Because otherwise I'm getting the cheesiest blue thing I can at Krogers.
