San Jose Planning Thread

We need to pick a date and time between July 17 and July 19 and a location.

For South Bay & Peninsula mefites who want to stay local. I was thinking we could do something Friday night for two reasons, 1) if you're in a partying mood, you can also hit the SF meetup on Saturday and 2) selfishly, I can't make a meetup on Saturday :D

Suggestions welcome, y'all.

I'd be up for this. From the talk at the meetup last night, it seemed like some folks thought they'd like to stay closer to home.

I'm gonna be a little selfish and suggest the Tied House in Mountain View (selfish because I can walk there from my house). It's probably about halfway between most Peninsula and South Bay Mefites, and it's easily accessible by VTA & Caltrain. And there are a bunch of coffee houses nearby if we want to go someplace quieter.

Another suggestion would be the Sonoma Chicken Coop in Campbell, which has a separate upstairs room we could see about reserving.

I'll go. I second the vote for Mountain View. Campbell is nice, but it's a little far for the Peninsula folks.

7 might be better so that people can have a little extra time if there's traffic? But people can show up whenever, start the drinking earlier if they want. :)

From the website, looks like the place is a restaurant as well. You should be able to enter the restaurant part, no problem! The place isn't open right now, but I'll call later today to make sure.

jamaro: Ah, I guess we can't attend two events. I've already rsvp'd to the san francisco meetup, so I won't be listed for this one. But I'll definitely be there.

I made a reservation at TH under the name "Metafilter" for 7 pm. Doesn't matter to me if we actually use the table but I figured reserving one gives us the option.

Hey everyone! Thanks for a great evening! My first meetup was nothing to be nervous about, since as it turns out, MeFites are pretty cool people. Thanks again jamaro for organizing.

Honestly, I haven't met many people since moving up here a year ago, and I was super nervous about being social again. But this was super easy and fun, and thanks a lot everyone.

I am embarrassed and ashamed to say that I missed this because I was looking for "San Jose" on the sidebar. GRR!! I should go through and look for all the 'burbs now. Cupertino, Palo Alto, Milpitas, Fremont, Santa Clara... etc. and see how many I missed.

But we'll see each other at the SF meetup, right?

That was tons of fun. My favorite part was that I could walk there. I thought about getting smashed, but then I remembered I would have to stumble over the train tracks to get back to my apartment and that could lead to disaster.

Also, when null terminated came up and was all, "Hey, are you from the internet?" And without missing a beat the rest of us all said in unison, "Yes!"
