Columbus Planning Thread

We need to pick a date and time between July 17 & 19, as well as a location.

What up! The last Columbus meetup was a lot of fun, though it was sort of a long time ago now. I'm hoping there will be enough interest to turn this into an event of sorts. So get out the word to all the Columbus Mefites you know, and let's see what we can do.

I'm quite partial to the Surly Girl, but definitely open to suggestions!

I love Surly Girl, and it's got that big room in the back with a jukebox full of Aretha Franklin and James Brown. Yes.

I'm voting for the 18th (HOORAY SATURDAY) but I'll probably attend no matter what. Even if it's just me and lohmannn crying softly and feeling unpopular in the back of Surly Girl.

I'm not yet sure if I'll be in Columbus or Cleveland for the summer, if the former I'm definitely in! Just to throw that out there.

+1 vote for the Surly Girl! I'm planning to be there, and either Friday or Saturday would work for me.

Cool, glad they'll be a few people at least. Hopefully most everyone can arrange some sort of ride or DD. I will be bringing at least a few people in tow; fans of MeFi that haven't actually purchased an account yet (working on that). I like to go big or go home, so you should all try to bring some people out too!

It's a bit early for it now, but a week or two before the meetup, are you cool with calling Surly Girl and reserving the back room, lohmannn? Surly's not a very formal, reservations-making sort of place, but I'm sure they'd appreciate a heads-up that we're totally going to storm in there and kick out everyone who didn't ride a recumbent bicycle there.

I want to make cupcakes so badly. Wondering what combos of food dye you'd have to utilize to get the right shades of green, blue, and grey frosting.

Yeah, can we set a date so that we can join the league of super cool cities who've moved from "planning" to "scheduled"? It sounds like everyone is cool with either Friday or Saturday at this point. Any objections to the 18th?

FYI reserving the back room at the Surly Girl costs money (I was considering it for my rehearsal dinner) so rather than reserving, we might want to just chip in for the smaller cost of having service to the back room and see if they will save us a table.

We can probably just overrun the backroom. If anyone not associated with us is sitting back there, they'll soon be so confused by the in-jokes and geek-aura that they'll nervously inch out.

Well, it was great meeting y'all who did show up. Lohmann was a great host. A good time was had by all.

I'm sure there'll be another Klumbus meetup in the not-too-distant future.
