Virginia Beach Planning Thread

We need to pick a date and time between July 17 and July 19 and a location. I'm thinking a place with WiFi would be optimal, and I'm also OK if the location happens to be technically in Norfolk. My suggestion: Panera Bread.

Yeah, but there's no booze at Panera. Meetups in this area are hard enough to get going (trust me on this) as it is, but suggesting one in a place sans alcohol and most likely to have many families there probably isn't the best, you know?

Our last meetup was at Bardo, and we had an informal election night meetup at Red Dog before that, and both were was pretty successful, and I know that in the past there was a meetup at Gordon Biersch. I think any one of those locations would be good for a repeat.

I'm a bit of a night owl, I don't know what time you guys have met up in the past, but I play music out at Marker 20 in Hampton on Thursday nights. There's actually about 4 bars right on Queens Way, it's about 2 minutes away from the HRBT, and any musicians could actually get up and play. We start at 9, so that may be too late for you guys.

Getting to the Southside is impossible during happy hour, so any meetup would need to be after 6 or 7.

I'm down for whatever, just let me know.

I vote the 19th - it's a Friday and staying out late shouldn't be a problem for too many people. Personally I go to work at 6 a.m., and tend not to be out late during the week.

Our past meetups have started around 7, I think. I am not even slightly familiar with Hampton, although I have been to the Taphouse up there and that was pretty chill.

Unfortunately I'll be heading up north for Starwood on 7/18 so I will miss this one. I'm sure someone else can yell across the room in my absence.

I memailed a few local people, but sadly, I'm not sure there's enough interest in this area to have a meetup.

Change in plans, I am leaving for points north on Saturday 7/18 -- the Friday before is the Seventeenth, and as long as you guys don't pour booze down my throat like last time (did we ever find that dwarf again?) I shall be there. Assuming there is still a There.

Well now that we have someone to yell across the bar for us, this needs to happen. Don't worry about the dwarf, we'll get another.

So far we have a time and a date - Friday the 17th, and let's shoot for a time of 8pm. Location is still open to suggestion.

So, I live in Elizabeth City but commute to VA every day; if this thing really happens, I might like to drop by and see how it works. I've never been to a MeFi meetup (or *any* meetup for that matter). It'd be cool to meet all you nerds :P

My vote is for the Ocean View Fishing Pier. We were out there Sunday and it is beautiful. Open air restaurant on the top floor, and another bar downstairs if there's inclement weather. Plus it's smack dab in the geographic center of Hampton Roads!

littlerobothead, past meetups were a fun time. Try to make it!

The OV Pier is a good suggestion - it's on the Southside but not far from the Peninsula, so it works out pretty well for both sides. Let's say around 7pm so we have some daylight to start out with. What do you think?
