We need to pick a date and time between July 17 and July 19 and a location.
OK I think this might be a long shot, but I refuse to miss free MetaFilter beer. Any Brazilian MeFites up for this?

Hey, wow! I will be doing a month of teacher training there, and not knowing anything about the place just listed it because that's where I will happen to be...

I've asked the mods to adjust it to Sao Paulo... but if none of you folks are going to show up I reserve the right to switch it back to wherever I am on that weekend and drink $50 worth of MetaFilter beer.

Just saw your question about the price of beer. Cheap as chips, given the current exchange rate. Fifty dollars of beer at today's exchange would mean we would have about R$ 104 to play around with. Given the method that beer is swilled in Brazil, either in glasses of 'chopp' or 500 ml bottles, the cost will run us from around R$ 3 to R$ 7 respectively. The 500 ml bottles will serve 3-4 people. Beer in Brazil is generally quite light and served very cold. If it's a small meetup, we could get pretty drunk on R$ 104 reais. posted by msali at 10:23 AM on May 7, 2009
