We need to pick a date and time between July 17 and July 19 and a location for a Ann Arbor / SE Michigan celebratory meetup!
Ann Arbor is long overdue for a big meetup! Let's hang out and drink!

Corner Brewery is hosting Shadow Art Fair that weekend, which means a standing-room only crowd. A shame because Corner would have been more or less perfect for this. I really enjoyed the Arbor Brewing Co. Great (IMO) food, most of it locally sourced and organic, and not too expensive either. I can't yet say if I'd be free then but I'll keep checking in here to keep up to date. posted by Earl the Polliwog at 5:07 PM on May 7, 2009
Likely be working that weekend at Sears at the Briarwood Mall, the mall of which could potentially be a meet up spot if the hive mind so desires. Of course, Frenchies and the Arbor Brewing Co. would beat that pretty quick.

Frenchie's would indeed be great. Saturday Night is probably best regardless; I'll go ahead and set the date to get us on the scheduled list and we can refine the location as we get a better handle on how many people might show; they want 40 people if you want a reservation and I think that is a very long shot.

I'm good for Frenchie's, or Arbor Brewing, both are good choices... but...I agree that getting 40 folks for Frenchie's is unlikely...

Are you guys pretty adamant about the site? It's been my homepage for a long time but i read way more than comment/post these days.

OK, I called Frenchie's, and they won't give exclusive use of the room for less than 40, but there's nothing else going on that night and they do take reservations for smaller groups so it looks like we're in good shape. I put us down for 8 PM on Saturday, July 18 with a group of around 20... if it looks like we'll get more we can take it from there, but we've got a place on the back patio if it's nice and inside if it's not. Sound good? Any concerns or other ideas? Should we coordinate a nearby mefi mailing campaign to spread the word?

I've wanted to hit a MeFi meetup for ages, but that weekend corresponds to the Pitchfork festival and, alas, I'll be in Chicago. Have a great time and I'm enthused that you all decided to have this shindig in Ypsi. It's a place that deserves more credit than it gets.

Yes this is definitely on! I'm going to mefimail the maybes and see if we can firm up a bit as if we hit more than 20 we'll need a bigger table. I will be wearing a metafilter shirt, and I look just like my avatar if that helps. More details to come by the end of the work week as I get our numbers solidified. OK, I called frenchie's to confirm and we are all set for 20 (with 14 currently confirmed). They have 'metafilter' attached to the reservation so just say that to the hostess when you show up if you're not sure where to go! They're not sure yet if we'll be seated in the frenchie's side or the side track side. Was only able to attend for an hour, but it was great and I really wished I could have stayed for the whole thing. Good to put faces to some internet-presences, and meet a bunch of new people as well. I hope AA-area mefi meetups become more frequent!
