Thanks so much to everyone for coming out, to all you for bringing food and liquor and drinking like fish and above all celebrating what it is to be a ChiMeFite! Hooray, everyone!

Kevin's going to add his pics, but I'd just like to say that this one picture made the whole day worthwhile. Yay, Chicago!

Also, I'm not sure why Flickr is choking on my movies, but give me 24 hours.

Also thanks to misskaz for her co-hosting efforts! Were any pictures taken at the Bong? Or even better, and video?
posted by Slack-a-gogo at 7:37 AM on July 19, 2009

Misskaz took a bunch of both. I took a couple of videos, but like an idiot I left my Zi6 at the bar.

Thanks Eamon and misskaz for hosting, and everyone else for bringing food/drink and being awesome in general. It was a great time all the way from the sock puppet pageant to the drunken karaoke at the Bong.

Wow, I had so much fun yesterday! Metafilter is awesome. My voice is all kinds of scratchy this morning from the karaoke. Thanks to everyone who attended, took pics, made sockpuppets, distributed favorites and flags, and brought food. Eamon, thanks for being such a great host. Pictures being uploaded right now... Woo!

Thanks Eamon, the host-with -the-most. It was a great idea to have a block party and your neighbors are awesome.
It was great to meet you all!

By the way, this party absolutely would not have happened without the help of misskaz. She did a crazy amount of prep work, coordinated all that food, set up and decorated all the tables and chairs, orchestrated the sockpuppetry, dominated the cleanup, AND made a kick-ass pasta salad! Thanks so much, co-host kaz!

Tons of fun, blah, blah, blah. Nice to meet some of you who can't/don't normally make it to the regular meetups.

Don't miss the thanks and congratulations some of us posted in the prior thread.

An unexpected bonus for me was that this was just blocks from where my grandfather was a part-owner of a Studebaker mechanic shop until the 1960s. Alas, the street tree meant that I didn't actually recognize it when I walked past it! I used to check it out from the "L" when I was a purple/red line commuter.

Great job with this party, and thanks so much for your hospitality, eamon and misskaz! I experienced a number of firsts yesterday--first block party, first Korean karaoke porn bar, first sockpuppet contest, and first time heading a conga line (for about 30 seconds). I enjoyed meeting everyone, and hope to make another meetup in the future.

Man, I really wish I didn't have to take off so early, and that I wasn't so worn out by the time our dinner party was over. Great seeing everybody! I'll try to make it to the next Billy Goat meetup.

I had a great time and am sorry I missed what looks like a fun conga line. I'll be sure to attend one of a the meetups in the near future.
