Post-game show?

What fun that was! Post your highlights for the evening here, missed connections, etc.

Not naming any names, but one discussion I was privy to had to do with not knowing what "IANAL" meant, and debating whether or not that's something you'd want to google to find out.

Also, had a great time talking LPs with banjo_and_the_pork. Spin the black circle!

we showed up late - i was wondering why it started so early, completely forgetting that the T closes so soon - so we didn't get too long to hang out. but hi to everyone i met, and a big thanks to whoever brought the markers, paper, etc. especially the stickers. decking out my nametag with LOLZ etc. was fun.

I had a great time. My only regret is that I didn't get to meet more MeFites! I was vastly entertained that I knew at least two of them from other contexts, and a third whom agreed we had met before, but couldn't quite figure out where.

Oh, so what became of the game of Broken Picture Telephone? Do we have updates on where they started and ended?
posted by canine epigram at 8:06 AM on July 19, 2009

I wish they'd been a bit clearer on their hours both in advance and then later when they told us when they closed. So awkward finding out that we had to leave the room at 11, and then not actually having to leave after all. Also, I forgot to take home the whiteboard.

On the plus side, I met tons of cool new people, convinced at least one person that Dominion is an awesome game, and had a ton of fun. It turns out Speed Chess is a lot more fun than Regular Chess when you're a bad chess player, even if our first game ended because we missed seeing a check situation until 3 turns later.

DiscourseMarker took pictures of the BPT games: 1, 2, 3.

Also, Portraits in Beanplating is now up, and it is awesome.

It was fun, I guess, but I didn't realize the Metafilter crew in Boston was so big, or composed mostly of teenage girls. And who were those young guys singing on stage? That part of the evening was awful, I have to say.

I couldn't find any beer either.

Bah, I missed out on Dominion(curses!) and other fun activities. But I did get to talk to a lot of people. I think. The entire evening is a blur. Except for the kind gent paying me 20 bucks for hand relief.

My "contacts" list has gone bonkers with the spousing, as pxe2000 can attest as I spoused her and still couldn't remember her name until DiscourseMarker put it in my Flickr stream.

But uh, I have everyone in the known universe on FaceBook, which I follow with a fervor that definitely could not be classified as "healthy." So, yeah, friend me and whatnot. There's a link in my profile. Or if those username deals work, my FB name is my actual name - sonja.engdahl

Anyhow, AWESOME MEETUP, definitely worth the time spent on the commuter rail with the Jonas Bros. fans.

I can't help but wonder if there were many Boston mefites seriously torn between the meetup and the Jonas Bros.

Not that I'm bitter about having to sell my tickets or anything.

My biggest concern walking to the meetup was, "OMG are all these limos for Mifi folks?".

[NOT JONAS BROTERS-IST] was me. I can't believe I misspelled BROTHERS. One too many IPAs. Hey pb, when are we getting that 3-day window for editing whiteboard comments?

Us out-of-towners had a grand old time. Would meetup again. A+++++

I had tons of fun AND didn't end up being That Embarrassingly Drunk Girl Who's Making a Scene (you guys would've told me, right?). Yay!

(Where's Debbie?! Someone make sure Debbie finally gets an account! She is awesome!)

So, this was my first Boston meetup, and I had a great time. (I just moved here recently from NYC, where I went to exactly one meetup, mostly because I was too busy to attend more.) I'll try to keep coming back. The games were all fun!

That's how we roll in Beantown. Show up in stretch H2 limos. Nice meeting some of the other Boston mefi members.

My head hurts. But it was fun. You are grand people in person also.

Let's do it again sometime!

Let's do it again sometime!

MOST DEF. 'moonMan has even promised that he'll join me to the next meet-up because my photos were so cool. HA! "Stupid internet thing" wins after all!

My "Guest" and I had a very fun time. He's not too up on party games but he absolutely loved Broken Picture Telephone, as did I. I wasn't really in the right mindset to randomly talk to strangers so we didn't socialize as much as I wanted to but I was digging the vibe.

I'll definitely be at the next one and I might even talk to one of you people!
posted by Diskeater at 8:26 PM on July 20, 2009

Diskeater, I think I talked to you guys only briefly, but it was good to see your Guest and prufrock representing metal at the meetup!

And it was also good to see everyone else I talked to representing Being Cool!

That was a blast! It was great meeting everyone (not that I actually met everyone, but pretending is half the battle). I'm glad I finally lost my meetup virginity and look forward to being a meetup slut (wait..that's not quite right..ah, forget it).

And yeah! prufrock, I didn't talk to you, but I kept meaning to throw you some horns, but I was too busy being a hyperspaz.

ignignokt: yay, MetalFilter!

Cat Pie Hurts: No worries, throw me some horns at the next meetup.

When I'm planning to wear my My little Pony shirt.

I think I still have a My Little Pony shirt.

It was fun and we should definitely do it again soon!

Looks like you all had a great time! You guys played BPT, and I missed it again! I was at the New Orleans soiree with Jessamyn. They had no cool games or cans of beans, but they did have an open bar and Coldchef's erasers-shaped-like-gravestones swag. And alligator-sausage poboys. It's a weird scary and fun world down in the southern latitudes!

Did anyone eat the overthought beans? Hope to make it to the next Boston meetup!

Overthought beans, overthought beans, good for the heart,
the more you eat, the more you snark.
